Big badda hair

I'm so glad that Ms. Helena dropped me this hair just as Ms. Jackal dropped me this outfit, which is basically tiny pieces of leather held together by O-rings. The hair suits the outfit, no? Fierce hair like a bright exclamation mark on top of an outfit that looks like a string of them. I will wear these shoes from different angles next, probably not taking them off for a while because they're so well done.

Funny thing -- I've spent the past few days climbing out of illness (it's my usual thing), and didn't have much stomach for Second Life either. There's a sense of euphoria about being well, that sense of limitless energy and surcease from pain, that makes all kinds of things feel possible. It's nice, wellness. I hope to live in that state permanently, soon.

Anyway. Go to hair fair, acquire this statement hair, then go to Gacha Garden and pick up the outfit to match.

Can I get laughing gas in that pack?

My daughter is having a wonderfully geeky summer. I know that bringing up kids is 100% just growing my own fun friend to hang out with, so I've been enjoying her geeky summer too. Do you guys follow the geek folk band The Doubleclicks? They were in our town, and we got to go see them in an intimate little venue. It was fantastic, my daughter's first concert. Then, we went to the live show of Welcome to Night Vale, and it was SUCH a gathering of Night Vale fans that it felt like a con. (Hey, are there geek cons in Second Life? Imagine if Comicon were also in Second Life?) Heck, a lady dressed as the glow cloud, and the whole audience intoned "ALL HAIL."

In Second Life, I've been sorting my stuffed Objects folder, and came out with old but nice bits of goodness -- this adorable and useful kitty rebreather with gas pack from Katat0nik, because it's important to be realistic here in second life. Also, these hairs are new from Clawtooth. Nice coloring, Bubs!

Fox masks and bloody kimono

Well, well, well. Another cute/horrific Japanese event, and I want nearly everything there. I'm grateful that events exist -- it's such a good way to browse curated new works and really go for what thematically jives with me. (I'm a huge fan of We Heart RP, for example!) Wouldn't it be even more awesome if events like this were also good places to congregate and look at each other? Imagine if lag and rendering were no issue at all? Second Life would be that much more fun ...

Anyway. I am hanging out in Kat & Clemmm's kimonos for this event, and it looks like I need to go back and get a bunch of accessories, too. Come hang out with me at UBUME! I'll see your floating head and disembodied clothing lurking in front of you, no doubt, but it's the ghost in the shell that matters.

By Mombi's heads

The other day, settling into a new little house thing in SL, I realized that it looks a lot like my real life home, right down to the distressed metal display case. Crazy, right? I laughed at myself for totally replicating how I live in real life in second life -- and then realized that this is probably what we all do. It's like lining a nest, building a den for our imagination. We bring what's comfortable, couches and pillows and objects. Maybe some of us build the Versailles or the bunker of their dreams, but so many of us don't. (Anyway, it's still ridiculous that I need a room of my own that totally resembles my...room of my own.)

Back to the idea of a den for my own imagination. I'm still terrified of the operation I'm having in October, and undoubtedly that's why I'm back here, in this place where fake bodies can be swapped out as regularly as the heads of Mombi of the North.

Um. Here are two hair fair hairs by Calico! We are all Mombi.
