As readers of this blog since two-thousand-*cough* know, my real-life human lives in Orlando, about five miles away from Pulse. Maybe it was this that caused me to seek online spaces again, as I still meditate on the horrific actions that took place not far from me.
Yeah, it impacted me. Orlando is a small town, and Pulse's custodian was over at my house the morning after it happened -- in shock and trembling that he was still alive.
I still don't know what to think about it, but it kicked my activism up a notch. I'm writing about it in whatever world I step into, real or second. And I was touched to see a Pulse event taking place in SL. I'm wearing Junbug's dress for the event, and you can go check it out in person over here.
Dress: Junbug Victoriana in Blush at the Pulse memorial
Hair: fashionably Dead Jupiter Bun in dark ombre 4
Skin: Plastik Summer Markings Freckled Skin
Horns: Plastik Living Light Horns in heaven
Melissa Etheridge wrote and performed the song "Pulse" recently, for Orlando. I can't listen to the song because it breaks my heart all over again, but the lyrics are perceptive. Lack of self-acceptance slew 49 people in Orlando, and self-acceptance is truly the work of a lifetime.
