The dark and dark

Scribbled Hearts (1)

I'm still wandering the grid in 2009-era clothing! This past week I visited the lush little sim of Scribbled Hearts, after seeing a pretty photo of it on Koinup. I like going to wintery places because my real-life body is stuck in the sun. Winter isn't winter unless the virtual cold is making my virtual skin creep. The sim has two home decor shops on it, Tart and Plethora, but I mostly wandered instead of shopped. I really like the way the coastline is ragged and reedy, and the way the snow blows over everything and gives it a light dusting. Definitely an almost-spring snow, I can smell the bulbs about to burst.

My 2009-era outfit this week is care of Katat0nik, her old pumpkin cream outfit. I got nostalgic and put on Violet Voltaire's Or-Ach cameo. The shoes are the the first pair that Jackal ever gave me back in 2007. Gotta love this ATI-driver issue for continuing to give me an excuse to wear my clothing layers...

Stay tuned for sim photos of Zombiefest! When the sim is up and running (and just before the vendors arrive), I will be stalking it.

The days of the floating heads

Hippie Park (3)

You know what I miss? SL that works. I've got the fabulous driver bug where I can either see mesh OR atmospheric shaders/hardware skinning, and as a long-time blogger this is a PAINFUL DECISION. Which would I rather have: a pretty new mesh outfit by my partner Jackal, or nice lighting?

I decided to float around the grid for a while, taking pretty pictures of things while dressed in clothing layers. I honestly like all my old clothing layers; at least I'm more than a floating head in my own viewer when I take landscape shots. These photos are from my wander through the sim Hippie Park, a very pretty residential sim recently posted in Firestorm's editor's picks.

I definitely saw lots of floating heads around this one! Then I decided to turn down my graphics and put on one of Jackal's new dresses, photo below. It's grim taking pictures without shadows. Mesh or not, it's like 2009 all over again. Anyway, I hope everything is better in the next ATI driver update.

O hi, 2015

Remember a world before mesh?

I took a lot of time off, it seems, from September 7th until now. In these months, I've learned a new job and dealt with family health concerns. Then it became January and I longed for snow, so I installed Second Life on my new-to-me PC and powered it up... Only to run into the "cannot view worn mesh" bug. No big deal, my wardrobe is full of beautiful clothing layers.

Happy 2015 to everyone! I hope to show up here and photograph landscapes again, especially snow. I miss it, and I miss you.
