Bound up

Schadenfreude corset

Allegory has made a new prim corset. It comes with an alpha that erases the waist, and recommendations on good AOs that keep your body nice and straight. I made a few modifications to my shape, too. I made my hips wider for a better hourglass, and I lengthened my small torso to better support the design. All that messed with, it's an awesome addition to my neo-Victorian-whatever wardrobe. Blogger Challenge: Something Old

Blogger Challenge: Something Old

Blogger Challenge: Something Old

Remember that perfect Last Call shirt, or a dress from the sale room of your favorite store, retired years ago? This is your chance to dust them off and put them on! The challenge is to wear a complete outfit (skin, shoes, eyes, hair, clothing, jewelry) in which none of the items are currently for sale. Everything has to be completely vintage, whether from an out-of-business store, or from an open store's retired line.

What's the purpose?

To appreciate that old designs still have value, that not every outfit has to be about the latest and greatest. It's also a lovely way to remember some favorite designers that are no longer around! Most of all, it's a reminder to enjoy blogging for the sake of writing about things that you love.

Blogger Challenge: Something Old

You know, I wrote the above Blogger Challenge thinking that it would be a fun way to play with my inventory.

I didn't realize that it would be a huge walk through my own SL memories. I've long thought that an avatar's outward appearance was kind of like writing out our inner thought processes. So when I put on clothes pulled from the recesses of my wardrobe, it felt a whole lot like remembering who I used to be.

I remember… Talking to Sumomo about this dress and that shirt, pulling it on, thinking that I'd never seen anything in SL with such vivid color combinations.

I remember… Chatting with Morrigan Hyun about her lovely, delicate hats. I was a Caledonian when I first met her, and her hats suited my big poofy skirts perfectly. I danced many a ball with one of her hats on my head!

I remember… Venturing into a Japanese sim and discovering the adorable store Untone Quilt, and quickly realizing that the Japanese make amazing (and absurdly cheap) things in SL. It was the first Japanese store that I purchased anything from, and I soon became addicted.

I remember… The amazing trepidation and joy of sinking ALL THAT MONEY into my first skin, this lovely one from Tete a Pied (before it became Fleur, before it became 5th & Oxford). I still love the lips on this skin, and the delicate orange-red blush.

I remember… Buying these eyes from Miriel, rejoicing that they were huge and orange and lush, just like they were reflecting the sunset.

Thank you, designers, for making clothes that fill me with good memories, and for making my time in Second Life that much better.

Into the West...

Evie's jewelry, HUZ face tattoo

Happy Friday, wage slaves! I'm overjoyed to show you a jewelry set today based upon my favorite books. From Evie's Closet comes three beautiful wrought-metal leaf crowns. The one that I'm wearing is named Celebrian. Celebrian is Arwen's mother -- caught and tormented by orcs, she went to the West long, long before Arwen met Aragorn. I felt that perhaps Celebrian had Arwen's raven-colored hair, and I wore this color in her honor today. Thank you for such a beautiful paeon to the books, Evie! Adorning my avatar's face is a new tattoo from HUZ, a butterfly over her eyes. (SLURL to Evie's Closet) (SLURL to HUZ)

I gesture at you!

is it spring yet?

I wasn't gonna post anything tonight because my brain's completely shot, but then I was handed a lovely package of purse-hold poses by Gesticulate. That made me dig up one of my few purses! I fail at being feminine in Second Life. I never carry a purse, because I figure my invisible Bag O' Holding contains my inventory for me, and I'm more likely to accessorize with horns than with jewelry. However, poses make me happy, so I'll be a bitch for the right shot. These purse holds are whimsical and full of motion, and bloggers will like how it doesn't mess with their prims. Cheers & back to giggling at male models. (SLURL to Gesticulate)

Blushing brunette

Uzuri jewelry, Ingenue outfit, Plastik skin

I've really enjoyed the Seasons Hunt so far! My hair and sweater are from this hunt, from Shag and Ingenue respectively, and I can tell that designers really put a lot of love into their items. The skin is another of the new Plastik Ataciara collection. There are versions of this skin without the epic cleavage, too! And sitting neatly on top of the epic cleavage is a beautiful necklace from the ethnic jewelry & clothing designer Uzuri. Ms. Bella's been on hiatus for a while, but she's back, and I really love the wild delicacy of her designs. The boots are circa 2007 from Lassitude & Ennui, BTW. Amazing how good design holds up, eh? Singing lesson from a whale

faun in a crow cape

For the most part, gothic fantasy isn't the genre that Vero Modero is going for. the rest of the clothing in the review box are cute little cocktail dresses. However, stick me in black with a crow cape, and this is what you'll inevitably get… I quite like the fluff of this cape. It took me a little while to figure out how to wear it so that IT wasn't wearing ME, but I think I finally figured it out. Fauns would probably pluck oversized crow feathers to wear as a cape, right? Right. The lovely tattoo on my chest is from HUZ, and I'm sure I'm going to get an IM from Hunain asking me to please pose naked while showing off the tattoo next time. Why am I sicker than my kid?

Elf in kimono with bright red hair.

A while ago, Beanie told me to go check out Tomoto's new kimono sets. I did, of course, because I do just about everything Beanie recommends. This set came out for New Year, but I haven't gotten around to writing about it until just now. (Amazing how time slips away.) You can also buy an optional coat to go over the kimono, this haori, and there are several colors of both. I'm still trotting around as an elf due to Aikea's new Ataciara skins. Today my elf is bark-green with cateye makeup. Cause why not?

In a skybox. Yep.

***Skin: Plastik Ataciara Elven Bark with lip stripe makeup & earses
