Blogger Challenge: Something Old
Remember that perfect Last Call shirt, or a dress from the sale room of your favorite store, retired years ago? This is your chance to dust them off and put them on! The challenge is to wear a complete outfit (skin, shoes, eyes, hair, clothing, jewelry) in which none of the items are currently for sale. Everything has to be completely vintage, whether from an out-of-business store, or from an open store's retired line.
What's the purpose?
To appreciate that old designs still have value, that not every outfit has to be about the latest and greatest. It's also a lovely way to remember some favorite designers that are no longer around! Most of all, it's a reminder to enjoy blogging for the sake of writing about things that you love.

You know, I wrote the above Blogger Challenge thinking that it would be a fun way to play with my inventory.
I didn't realize that it would be a huge walk through my own SL memories. I've long thought that an avatar's outward appearance was kind of like writing out our inner thought processes. So when I put on clothes pulled from the recesses of my wardrobe, it felt a whole lot like remembering who I used to be.
I remember… Talking to Sumomo about this dress and that shirt, pulling it on, thinking that I'd never seen anything in SL with such vivid color combinations.
I remember… Chatting with Morrigan Hyun about her lovely, delicate hats. I was a Caledonian when I first met her, and her hats suited my big poofy skirts perfectly. I danced many a ball with one of her hats on my head!
I remember… Venturing into a Japanese sim and discovering the adorable store Untone Quilt, and quickly realizing that the Japanese make amazing (and absurdly cheap) things in SL. It was the first Japanese store that I purchased anything from, and I soon became addicted.
I remember… The amazing trepidation and joy of sinking ALL THAT MONEY into my first skin, this lovely one from Tete a Pied (before it became Fleur, before it became 5th & Oxford). I still love the lips on this skin, and the delicate orange-red blush.
I remember… Buying these eyes from Miriel, rejoicing that they were huge and orange and lush, just like they were reflecting the sunset.
Thank you, designers, for making clothes that fill me with good memories, and for making my time in Second Life that much better.
