Between the woods and frozen lake

I was never very Christmassy before Second Life. Now it's fun to play with all of the great seasonal creations from designers and get inspired by them. In this case, I'm totally a Santa's helper elf. Right? I'm wearing Rebel Hope's Santa Cutie outfit and Plastik's Christmas skin. Below, I'm showing off my Lassitude & Ennui Thecla boots, gorgeously strapped and cobbled. I'm wandering around the Pluto sim again -- if you haven't been by yet, the sim has outdone itself in Christmas awesomeness this year. There's a beautiful tree house, as well as the usual bevy of adorable decorations. I totally finished my Christmas shopping! I have MORE eggnog, baby

Mr. Vitamen, thank you for making another awesome pair of gift manties for us. Your underpants always make my avatar feel well hung! The shirt is a new item from Shop Sey. It comes in a great package with a turtleneck beneath it and a longer version of the shirt for when you're feeling cold, or this version for when you're feeling slutty. The hair is also new from Rock Candy, the Kit hair. It's super fluffy and kitteny.

***Necklace: Aitui Momolu Jr
***Shirt: Shop Sey Buttoned Hoodie in Mocha

I have eggnog, baby

DNA Damien skin.

I put on DNA's new skinline and absolutely loved how it looked on my boy avatar here. My shape is easy to put one's hands on -- it originally came from Rock Candy, and I tend to tweak the face to suit various skins. This shape had slightly fuller lips than usual, and it looks very lush. You can also see the nicely-shaded arse on that skin over here. A little more hair and I could cosplay Wolverine! (Who needs vampires, werewolves are where it's at.) (SLURL to DNA)

***Skin: DNA Damien skin III -- the one with the awesome muttonchop whiskers.
***Hairbase: booN vine shaved hair base in chocolate
***Tattoo: HUZ Kanji Reborn

Lula sim

This morning I took a wander through Lamb's new sim, Lula. It's so cute it looks Japanese, and (from the number of people I knew that showed up there) I sense it's going to become a gathering place like the old Trilogy sim. The sim is warm with just a touch of autumn to it, so I wore this pretty new Vanilla Rose Lace dress from Honey Kitty. The dress comes in rosy Christmas colors too! My boots are new from Gos, excellently sculpted as always. (SLURL to Honey Kitty) (SLURL to GOS)

Rosy light

My avatar was soaking up the early evening sun in the Mesh Grid today. It felt so good to take some ~silentsparrow~ stuff out of the wardrobe. It's cold outside, and the rich fabrics feel like something perfect to crawl into. I admit the outfit was a complete Mesh mistake. It decided I wanted to wear two outfits at once, so the top and pants are from the Severina suit, and the skirt and armwarmers are from the Kurai Tart. Oops! Oh well, it works! I don't know if you've noticed or not, but I'm still slowly blogging new hair from the Hair Fair (that ended months ago yes). One at a time, slowly, day after day. Today's hair is from Rosy Mood, and I admit that I tinted the colorful hairband a nice gothy grey. (SLURL to ~silentsparrow~) (SLURL to Rosy Mood)

Light a candle in memory

Hanukkah dress!

I went to Rutgers for my undergraduate degree, which means that I have a vivid memory of hilarious Christmas concerts in which a chorus of Jewish men sang Christmas carols. Donning this outfit as a gentile (I'm Buddhist due to my Asian blood) makes me remember this clearly. Perhaps nowadays it doesn't matter what you were born into so much as what you respect. I remember doing holiday present exchanges with my resigned and indulgent Jewish roommates, thinking that here was the true spirit of Christmas: A Buddhist and a bunch of Jews sitting around a room making merry, because why the hell not? I wear this adorable Katat0nik Hanukkah Bear dress in their memory. (SLURL to Katat0nik)

The pond is always larger than I think

sense a theme to December yet?

Last night's adventure in the mesh grid consisted of another meeting with a stranger. I'd just rezzed that lighthouse (by Alice's Garden) in a sandbox, and someone wafted by and peeked within.

"What are you doing?" He or she asked curiously.

"Photographing for a blog," I said. I sent over the link to my website. "Been doing it for a few years now."

"Never heard of it," She or he said, and I laughed.

I never expect people to know my website. It's a dorky romp through an MMORPG, after all. Anyone who thinks that they're remotely cool because they blog needs to remember that it's a breath away from writing quest play-by-plays in WoW.

Despite that, I love blogging, and I love the outfit that I'm wearing. This month I decided to return to my roots and write about the store that inspired me to dress my avatar up, photograph her, and blog the experience. Yes, that's right -- it's ~silentsparrow~ December. (SLURL to ~silentsparrow~)

We've been mostly good

Meshing about

Oh, Mesh Grid, how I love you. Every now and again, to chase my shadow, I venture into the Mesh Grid. Without fail, someone curious stops by, because I erect a building in a sandbox and snap away… This photo session's curious bystander was a disembodied military helmet and gun. "My body is mesh," he explained. His shadow is on my shoulder in the bottom photo. I was never able to see his body...

Here I am in one of my favorite dresses ever, ~silentsparrow's~ Dominion gown in (blood). Perfect for the holidays, and for a nice poofy shadow. (SLURL to ~silentsparrow~)
