The pond is always larger than I think

sense a theme to December yet?

Last night's adventure in the mesh grid consisted of another meeting with a stranger. I'd just rezzed that lighthouse (by Alice's Garden) in a sandbox, and someone wafted by and peeked within.

"What are you doing?" He or she asked curiously.

"Photographing for a blog," I said. I sent over the link to my website. "Been doing it for a few years now."

"Never heard of it," She or he said, and I laughed.

I never expect people to know my website. It's a dorky romp through an MMORPG, after all. Anyone who thinks that they're remotely cool because they blog needs to remember that it's a breath away from writing quest play-by-plays in WoW.

Despite that, I love blogging, and I love the outfit that I'm wearing. This month I decided to return to my roots and write about the store that inspired me to dress my avatar up, photograph her, and blog the experience. Yes, that's right -- it's ~silentsparrow~ December. (SLURL to ~silentsparrow~)

We've been mostly good

Meshing about

Oh, Mesh Grid, how I love you. Every now and again, to chase my shadow, I venture into the Mesh Grid. Without fail, someone curious stops by, because I erect a building in a sandbox and snap away… This photo session's curious bystander was a disembodied military helmet and gun. "My body is mesh," he explained. His shadow is on my shoulder in the bottom photo. I was never able to see his body...

Here I am in one of my favorite dresses ever, ~silentsparrow's~ Dominion gown in (blood). Perfect for the holidays, and for a nice poofy shadow. (SLURL to ~silentsparrow~)

112!

rh02

Even drow princesses need formal wear, right? Rebel Hope's dresses always make me feel like Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's -- long and sleek and elegantly designed. I admit that I have always found it tough to photograph fur (or anything with an uneven, soft edge), so this was my best shot on a much more glorious dress. Here is a closer view of RH's lovely necklace and earrings, too! (SLURL to Rebel Hope Designs)

Shocking taupe

marni

Marni knows color. I remember thinking this the first time I stepped into her shop, way back in the days of Endicott. She had puffy system skirts in shocking pink and her trademark royal blue, and I put one on and felt a joyful shock of color to my system. I was thinking this as she appeared in my skybox wearing a wash of neutrals. Ironic? Perhaps. She's probably the only avatar I know that makes neutral look like an actual color. Cheers to Marni and her new releases, out this week at (Royal Blue.)

A morbid candycane?

Sangre Noir

I think I began to love Christmas a little more after seeing Nightmare Before Christmas, of course. Leave it to Tim Burton to show me that Christmas could be strange and macabre… Today I'm achieving that effect by wearing Sangre Noir's new cute little outfit, the candycane outfit. It's got fluffy bloomers (and a skirt, not shown) and sleeves and a prim little shirt beneath, perfect for a freezing stroll through a wintery sim. Good thing I'm so drained of blood that I can't feel the cold… My shoes are the beautifully cobbled new items from (Shiny Things). I don't have to say a thing about them, do I? I was lucky enough to run into Fallingwater when she was putting out her shoes, and I slyly snapped her photo (below).
