The pond is always larger than I think

sense a theme to December yet?

Last night's adventure in the mesh grid consisted of another meeting with a stranger. I'd just rezzed that lighthouse (by Alice's Garden) in a sandbox, and someone wafted by and peeked within.

"What are you doing?" He or she asked curiously.

"Photographing for a blog," I said. I sent over the link to my website. "Been doing it for a few years now."

"Never heard of it," She or he said, and I laughed.

I never expect people to know my website. It's a dorky romp through an MMORPG, after all. Anyone who thinks that they're remotely cool because they blog needs to remember that it's a breath away from writing quest play-by-plays in WoW.

Despite that, I love blogging, and I love the outfit that I'm wearing. This month I decided to return to my roots and write about the store that inspired me to dress my avatar up, photograph her, and blog the experience. Yes, that's right -- it's ~silentsparrow~ December. (SLURL to ~silentsparrow~)

It always seems like the "fashion sector" of SL is *all* that there is. But really, I would wager we might not be the biggest sector at all. There are the adult/fringe groups that are huge in SL. Then there are the kids and furry types, the RPers, builders who seem to never leave sandboxes, etc etc.

I always try to remind myself of this by remembering that my first year in SL was pretty much completely void of the fashion industry. I rarely ventured beyond Gurl6, cheap lingerie and then eventually "the quad" entered my world. I spent 90% of my time floating from one live music show to another while mixing in some socializing with friends between.

I never read blogs. I didn't go to fashion shows. I didn't attend grand openings or sales. I didn't know there was a whole industry devoted to nothing but fashion and "making your avatar look pretty" for pictures...vs getting it ready for stripping/slexxing. lol

I remember when the most amazing events I took part in involved new Rezzable sims and exploring them.

I'm rambling. But yeah...I get what you mean.
