Winter, I can't believe I fell for it. A few words of sweet flattery, an excited IM, and suddenly here I am POSTING YOUR BLOG FOR YOU. Ahhh, you're good, Mr. Skinny-arse.

At any rate, he's got an eye for nice stuff. "Come to Crie Style," he coaxed, "there's a gorgeous suit with your name all over it. AND it comes in boy! Malkavyn told me about it..." Winter was right, Crie Style has expanded their line to include clothing, not simply the lovely monocles and glasses that I've long admired. I got my suit in steampunk amber, and feel as dapper as Vita Sackville-West. We're both in Den-Dou skins and Truth hair, although he's got on more accessories than I do. Sartorial rites

~silentsparrow~ has released the new Ritual gown, a collaboration with October Rust and Calico Ingmann Creations. It's got a skirt to die for, and vines draping around the shoulders and down the corseted back. The hair is tied back with the same vines, and the ensemble is tied together with a pretty goblet and crucifix combination that has a lovely pose. Nivaya Barbosa of Dressing in Pixels helped me photograph it today.

Big

My avatar is normally tiny. This is because the human is small too -- I'm part Asian, so what I think of as a normal-sized human is usually about 2/3 the size of a westerner. That means that I'm not sure what constitutes a 'large' avatar. This fine challenge helped me think through it. To me, 'big' indicates more than spare. Saddlebags, tummy fat, lovehandles, boobs -- I upped all those sliders until my girl looked like she had some extra. Then, I made her tall and tough! I still don't know if this qualifies as big -- I always have to adjust prims down to size for my normal avvie, and this girl doesn't have to adjust much at all...

I'm trying to maintain Acha-style, however, so the big girl gets to be fey.

Something vaguely normal looking

Ever notice that when you stop doing something bad for you for a while (like drink a mocha every day), doing it again makes your body feel blech? I've got my super-saturated iced coffee in front of me, and all I want is a nice hot mint tea. Darn.

I've got a few more things to share today. First, (Medley) is a new shop in Thibedeau. I'm wearing a nicely understated skin from this shop, as well as those super-skinny grey pants. One can never have to many tight 80s jeans (hell, I wish I still had the chic jeans I wore in junior high), and these fit the bill nicely. I've also got on a new shirt from ~momo~ that echoes the 80s style in the high-drawn waist and big sleeves. I'm waiting for my shoulderpads... (SLURL to Medley) (SLURL to ~momo~). Finally, the jewelry and shoes are extremely cheap items from the labor day sale at Carwash. What a great sale! I went and made out like a bandit on boots from Sentou Yousei and this jewelry from U&R Dogs. (See the post about the jewelry at Beanie's blog!)

Onenine!

Some days, you just gotta be a demonic auto mechanic. Beanie Canning IM'd me this morning squeaking happily about 19 (Onenine). This shop has the infamous and awesome motorcycle, but it also has a bunch of other things, including a board of freebies (the hat, necklace and cigarette that I'm sporting) and these (not free) super-awesome coveralls. Beanie asked if I'd write about some Onenine stuff too, and I happily agreed -- I love this shop. Glitter everywhere

So then I took all the same designers as my last post and wore different kinds of stuff from them. I kind of like this look -- reminds me even more of Joan of Arc, for some reason. Maybe it's the stylized Wild O hair, or the elaborate braiding on the frock? I don't know, but this was a fun exercise.

Now back to the child, whom I see has broken out the art supplies. Including the glitter...damn. The house is going to sparkle for days.

The goose is getting fat

Yesterday I ran into Saur Holt while running around on the Demonology hunt. She was getting her shop (PND) ready for Halloween, putting out millions of pumpkins and things that were fabulous and orange. I realized happily that it's here, my favorite season -- Autumn! In honor of this, I put on a rich velvety lolita dress, something I've had around for a while. It's from Zephi's Shop -- this small boutique offers a few lovely gothic lolita items, well worth a look for this genre, and a few very interesting cosplay items. Full suit of Joan of Arc-esque armor?

My shoes, from Gbberish, are perfect with it. This is another small, eclectic boutique, and the shoes and boots are just great. The store has a men's section and women's section and furniture as well, all very creative stuff. (I bought some boots that I'm sure will be showing up in a day or two.) Calling Elusyve: in the Gbberish woman's department is a gorgeous orange frock that has your name written all over it.

Purple on Dark

I'm up really really late for a school day! I finally understand what this means -- with a child in pre-K and work that starts even earlier, being awake at 7 AM is kinda like sleeping in. Which brings me to the question, why the hell did I stay up so late? I'm still not sure. I think I was angsting over the fact that I'm about to pour 1300 USD into my car. This is why Second Life is so much better than Other Life -- if something breaks, fixing it will probably cost me less than ten bucks.

I was in a dark mood, so I put on this incredibly dramatic Plastik skin. Once again, I'm awed by how many shades Aikea can get out of darkness... She's totally like one of the darkweavers from Utopia Hunters! I'm eating one of Evie's Closet's group gift faeries -- crunchy, good with tea. The dress is of course Blue Blood; I can recognize Ghanima's fabric from 50 paces. This dress is the Lorena in purple, and the sculpts are a whole lot like paws. Awright. Foxy Orange

Alexiel was kind enough to send me a review of her Red Vixen skin. I really love the markings on the face of this cute fops, and the ears and tail move with a will of their own. Also with this outfit I've got on Ezura's new leather strapped outfit in black -- something simple for such a vivid skin. The hair is from House of Munster -- come back soon, ok guys? I miss you.

Forgive me for being short on words today. The school term has begun, and I'm caught up in a mess of teaching. Some of the stories...heh. Apparently one of my students bought a pirated copy of the textbook, complete with a xeroxed publication page and stolen cover. Not the right edition at all, quite amazing!

Sleepy, green

Heh. This outfit seems like a remix of my week's outfit, only in pretty green. Katat0nik released a lot of different colors of her adorable S&S dress -- including this one that went so nicely with the new Plastik skins that I couldn't help wearing it. I'm getting a little more neko than yesterday -- today I have ears, even if someone cut off my tail. I'm also in Dark Eden boots with cute little straps at the ankle and knee, and flowers too. so cute for looking so badass...

Forgive me. I have been awake since 6 AM teaching, and my brain is ultimately fuzzy.

10L from Tea Lane

Hm. I was feeling vaguely neko (meaning, I totally neglected to put on ears and a tail), so I put on this skin. Mew? ...I'm wearing it with shitkicking boots, which are a necessary neko accessory, and an [Atomic] tanktop and hair. These items are all set off by a 10L dress from Tea Lane -- the Charcoal Cynthia dress, on sale for the Carwash labor day event. So monochromatic, except for that splash of bright red! I really like the texturing on the bodice of this dress, and I also like the lace overlaying the neatly-made skirts. Nice job, women! (SLURL to the Carwash labor day sale).

Bearded ladies

Can you tell I've been missing Mourna?! My daughter picked my color scheme, which is pink on pink, of course. Then Katat0nik liked my outfit and I said, "Fine! You're photoing with me!" Of course she did it better -- I love how she paired the bloody stripe vest and pants with teal. Then she added her ringmaster hair and duck shoot mustachio, and we're both totally ready for our new SL careers as sideshow barkers.

The vest is new from Schadenfreude, and comes in colors to match almost all of the stripe pants. I note that the electro-cute set goes really well with the vests too. Now I'm going to go steal the rest of Kat's outfit!

Edit: I went to the shop to make sure the vests were out and couldn't see them up yet. I guess this is officially a 'coming soon to an elephant near you' post.
