Governess and charge

Mourna made boy-me look so pretty today! I wasn't content to wear just the boy gear, though, so I've climbed into two of the girl dresses too. Together, it looks so much like a governess trying to bring out her shy charge...

Both dresses have awesome bodices. The line of the long one reminds me of the elegant maxi-dresses of 1910, right before the hemline swung up to the thigh. I'm wearing that one with Balderdash's Camille necklace, one with a focus upon the triple chains dangling down the back. The short one is be-laced and -bowed, high enough to display the lace of my Be Noir stockings. Also, I'm wearing a Tekeli-li monocle, an amazing one with color scripted gems and tentacles, giving my avatar a fabulously severe look. (SLURL to Nomine here)

Afternoon monsoon

It's a good day for lying in bed all day -- cloudy and warm outside, cool and dark within, and the bed is under a fan. I'd like to curl up with a stack of manga and stare out at the rain... Instead, I woke up and trekked outside with my daughter for her swimming lesson. She can backstroke like a pro at age four, I can't imagine how cool she's going to be in a few years. She's a true Aquarius, I guess! Sitting in the sun at the side of a pool really doesn't equal lying in bed, though, so I dressed my avatar up in PJs instead.

I'm wearing two new tank tops today. One is from ~silentsparrow~ -- the (cuttles) tank top that matches the most excellent pajammie set. The other tank top is new from !Ohmai, another blogger-turned-creator who is making lovely rumpled and realistic looking clothing. Also new is my skin, gorgeous smeared makeup from Pink Fuel, Raine in Cream. All of these new skins absolutely suit my avatar's shape, and I'm sure I'll be wearing them often in the next few posts. The hair is new from Zero Style (thanks to Beanie for reminding me of the new releases!), and the rosary tattoo is an interesting new style from HUZ. Socks and skins

The reason for this post is two-fold. First, to show off the awesome stripey slouchy three-colored socks from Schadenfreude (complete with ankle-gathers), and second to display my new skin from Idiosyncrasy. The skin is the Sirena Smudge Pale, and I really adore the orangey-toned pout of the lips. Ashia is incredibly body-conscious when she blogs, and this carries over into her skin line. The other parts of my outfit are 0L hair from Curious Kitties (woo), excellent Mary Janes from DV8 with a scripted-changing toe pattern, and a lovely LBD from Sn@tch. In RL, we're recovering from yesterday's insane 5-car fender-bender. I can't believe that my husband's car emerged unscathed; the cars around him, on the other hand, were crumpled like construction paper. Note to self: never take Semoran Ave. in Orlando again.

Roar

Fade Dana made another "hat." This one is called King Bear, and comes with a clawed mantle and hood fit for a druidic ruler. It has roleplay written all over it, but I think I'll wear it instead of prim lashes. I'm wearing this with one of the meltingly shaded skins from Exodi (currently at Swan Song), and DoC Eldrich's Achariya outfit. The outfit had enough of a druidic look that it kinda sorta matches the headdress. One of the great things about Fade's hats is that you never have to worry about hair... (SLURL to Hat Mechanic)

Avatar and syllabi

I have two pretty monochrome dresses in my in-box -- one is Nomine's Sarah outfit, an Edwardian gown descending in drapes from a pretty neckline, and one is Evie's Closet's new Whimsy gown. The two dresses are very different in attitude; the Nomine dress is long and elegant while the Evie's frock is playful and fae, but they both share excellent construction and textures. I especially love the front embellishment on Evie's dress, and how the included wings frame the shoulders; and the perfect fit of the Nomine prim skirt despite how it was made out of two pieces.

Fluffy butt

*katat0nik* released a new outfit for the Albero Summer Festival, a black recoloring of her Strawberry Cream outfit. I have always loved the fluffy bloomer prims of this confection, and this version is bestrewn with lush strawberries in the dark fabric. The outfit comes with a bra and a corset and shorts with or without garters. (Available at Kat's Albero shop)

I'm wearing it with blood. The Den-Dou CSR skin comes in three styles, a no-blood, medium blood, and damn-you're-a-messy-eater variety. I've had a small obsession with True Blood lately, and the last variety totally looks like some of the scenes... My child is talking my ear off, so I'll leave it at that. (CSR information)

CSR Pirate

This morning I woke up to realize that it's CSR time! I had a sleepy conversation with Beanie that went like this. Oh wow, it's CSR day. And Beanie said, Actually, Japan began half a day before us... Of course, it's been frustrating because everyone's doing it, which means that it's impossible to teleport anywhere, but that's just one little barrier on my path toward the DP**yumyum sheep avatar! This outfit is the result of too much freebie hunting. I went to join the Midnight Madness for the Wishbox shoes, and got sucked into this lovely pink pirate outfit (which is not free, of course)...*sigh*

This morning, another blogger asked whether it's helped me to be a "niche" blogger. Actually, I don't have an intentional niche. I simply write about what excites me! The one bit of discipline that I have is to post every single day. Sometimes I suck and have off-days, but the concentration on my look and technique (and the daily practice) has really made me grow. -- That's my advice for new bloggers.
