Mamamamama - sounds of a Saturday morning

This morning I sleepily logged on and saw a bevy of awesome things! First, Aisuru Reiko of Beloved Custom Designs has created this delicate and elaborate dolly key. It's scripted to change color in the metal, pearl, and rose, and turns slowly to keep your automaton going. Out of all of the sartorial conceits of Second Life, I think I am most piqued by the dolly key -- turning avatars into clockwork maidens warms my cogpunk-loving heart. [ SLURL to BCD here ]

Then, new hair from Schadenfreude! There are four new 'dos, and I'm sporting one of them (the Jinx) here. I love little sleek bobs, and this one made me totally glee. And last (but not least), I'm in a few of the new Attitude Model poses from Studio Sidhe. They're interesting -- hips thrust cutely outward, arms crossed, crouched. They'd work really well with sexy pants! The shoes are new from Curious Kitties. They're orange, not red, but I loved them too much to take them off.

How'd you learn to lie like that?

I was a fool, I was so much younger then...
The night she took me by surprise
I should have known all the trouble that I'd be in
But then she hooked me with those eyes...

Yesterday I saw the gypsy items at Nomine and thought: Mourna is going to drool all over this. So instead of snagging the girl items, I got the boy ones, turning boi-Acha into a moveable prop for her. Indeed, we look so very hawt in these clothes!

Girl-me wanted a go at the gypsy clothing too, and I think she looks pretty nice (after shrinking a prim here and there).

Jumpsuits and demons

Whenever MichaMi releases something new, I immediately fix my beady little avatar eyes on it. I love the newly-released Anouk jumpsuit -- it has anal-retentive construction (which I completely appreciate) and a very chic line, perfect for any sort of avatar (including mine). MichaMi also makes a totally perfect bottom on her pants! [SLURL to MichaMi here.]

I'm wearing it with this beautiful (and skeletally painted) skin from Plastik. The skins from this shop really suit my av...which leads me to the ponder that I've come to peace with my no-mod shape. It's kind of like being born with a particular body type that you can't get rid of without expensive surgery... I've also got on some graceful horns from The Stringer Mausoleum. Why wear one when your inner demon can sport three, arching above your head?

Dora says BOO

I was pondering this: The Fashion Planet feed moves so incredibly quickly that when I was busy with RL for these past few weeks, I felt completely overwhelmed whenever I took a glance at it. I realized that within the past few months there's been an explosion of awesome new bloggers -- makes me feel joyous (more to read) and at a loss (how the hell will I read all that?). However, more diversity is always good, so I'll just toss my penny into the FP stream (and head over to the Nocturnal feed if I want to get an overblown sense of my own importance, hee).

The move is going well, although Orlando bureaucracy can kiss my @#$.

I'm wearing a new dress from Curious Kitties, the Lemnia. It has cute orange accents, and I'm really loving the sculpted skirt work that CK has done lately! I especially love the little sculpted capelet that tops this outfit. I'm wearing it with a set of jewelry and eyes from Shine -- I like how the light eyes and Historical Heroines hair make my avatar look vaguely cyberpunk. (SLURL to Curious Kitties) (SLURL to Shine)

Always wanted to climb into Severina :D

I've noticed a few things about Mourna's style, posting beside her in the way that I have been. She loves circlets around the brow! She also doesn't own many earrings, because of the elven nature of her avatar -- pointy ears are a must. When choosing hair, we always do a wee ear check to see if it'll work. Also, she owns every Nomine skin made, usually in all the colors. Her boot collection is mighty, and because of it, I think I own more in the way of pumps than she does. She also spends a great deal of time altering clothing to fit her shape, because it's carefully made and very human, with a long torso and substantial hips -- not what people normally design for, but Mourna always makes it work. She's totally got skills!

We're always on the lookout for dresses that we can wear together, and found one when ~silentsparrow~ released a dress in two versions a few days ago, the Severina (named after the gorgeous cobbler behind First Flower). It's lacy, with a tailed bustle or a dolly skirt, and the little elbow laces make me die. We're wearing it with a tidy half-ponytail from Historical Heroines, and the First Flower Hex boots. (Hop over to the ~silentsparrow~ shop here) (and see more Mourna-Acha dual posts here).

Mm, car insurance and congee

Aaaaaah, so much to accomplish. My "settle into town" to-do list is great, including a fabulous stop by the DMV and attempting to change our fail-arse AT&T internet into something that works. YOU HEAR ME, AT&T? YOU SUCK. This is alleviated by the awesome Vietnamese food right down the street from me. Today's breakfast was leftover congee (rice soup) with duck, and I'm kinda glowing from the goodness. Rice-based anything is so tasty! /Me totally shares with you guys.

I was halfway through changing into the outfit I'd decided upon yesterday when I realized that this looks kinda cool. My daughter approved of the pink and purple together. The dress is new dolly-style goodness from Sn@tch, worn with Trap's pink koi skin and Calico Ingmann Creations hot-pink-tipped hair. The neck belt is from Zenith; I'll be wearing more from Zenith next time I blog, the shop has shifted focus a bit, and the new accessory line rocks!

Please forgive no SLURLs today (although you can check for some of them here), I'm about to run off and do all the stuff on this list!

We dare wear short shorts!

So much to process. I took Alba to her first fireworks last night. We stood in the middle of a huge mass of people -- all of Orlando together. We were next to a family that had a little girl with Down's Syndrome, and who was trying her best to enjoy things, but was confused by the crowd and staying out late... I had a wash of sorrowful empathy, thinking to myself that I'll never complain about my able-bodied child again. But then, the fireworks -- Alba clung to her father's shoulders and watched as they blossomed across the sky, pink and silver and golden rain.

She liked the pink ones best, of course. She's still asleep, poor child, nestled into the covers of her pink room.

I came home and saw to my delight that /artilleri/ has released new high-waisted shorts! I put them on with two old /artilleri/ gifts and a delicate tattoo from ~silentsparrow~. Now that hair fair is over, I am returning to my Wild O love too, with yet another style from this tiny Japanese shop. Today, just to get to know little kids, I'm actually heading to church! (We're vaguely Unitarian. Wish me luck and remind me not to write yaoi in the church program during the sermon.)
