Absolute Options

Ice Queen outfit

I opened the outfit folder for the Absolute Zero - LE Ice Queen Collaboration and felt my heart sink. "Ohshit," I thought, "I can hardly do justice to describing this." See, it has four designers and thirty-two pieces, from skin to hair to shoes to jewelry to outfit, and each of the @#$@ing pieces (aside from the clothing) has a color-changing script for even more options. The idea for this collaboration was brilliant -- Rouge Darcy(Rebel X) wanted to make a complete avatar, and roped in some friends to help. She designed the dress bits, and it combines her usual sculpty madness with a flowing shape I haven't seen from her before. The triple-tiered skirt is frothy and light despite being sculpted, and the sleeves set it off wonderfully.

The two skins are from MissAllSunday of Wasabi Pills. This adorable skin shop has been in my skin rotation for a while (whenever I wear my slightly smiley shape), and these two skins really suit the outfit. The ice queen blue version comes with dramatic gem eyebrows. That musta hurt! The hair and shoes are from katat0nik, and she was kind enough to include an unusual color-changing version of her hair for those of us who've wanted unnatural colors of her hair for a while... It changes from blue-tones to purple-tones, with white and silver too, and both hairs have really cute flowers (snowflakes?) clinging to the locks, as if we've been rolling in white fluffies. The shoes have color-changing bow thingies.

Last but not least, the jewelry (in the form of bracelets, necklaces, dolly keys, and tiaras) are from Violet Voltaire. She's provided a few attachment points for each of the pieces, and the damned things change both pearls and crystals into blue and violet tones. Argh. The choices! (Violet wrote about it here.)

All in all, a lovely collaboration. It will be sold from January 3rd to January 17th, hence the LE-ness. The slurl to the four shops are as follows:
*katat0nik*; Violet Voltaire; Rebel -X-; Wasabi Pills

*Cry* -- it only took me all freaking day to fix my image quality, and even now, I'm not sure why the thingies are doing what they're doing. I want my old viewer back, and no, none of the tricks worked. =_=.

Aside from that, I went exploring today. I found an old gothic outlet mall, and hopped over to KC Fashions to goth myself up. I'm wearing the Brood outfit from KC Fashions, very spiky and vinyl-y and sexxeh. The outfit suits me better when it covers up my bits, but there's a "wardrobe malfunction" version of the top for the daring.

Now back to kicking my viewer.

I22 4 m3 & U

I was wandering through the Isle of Tranquility today when I saw a sign (below). Turns out that tomorrow through the 11th, there will be little fair booths with lucky bags full of cutely-bundled sale items from the stores of iTuTu.

I took a wander through the booths. They aren't all set up yet (starts tomorrow), but I found sale skins from Den-Dou (worn above), dresses and hair from amerie's Naughty, and cuteness in the form of lanterns, mouth-cards and hair from Atelier AM. Can't wait to see what DP**yumyum has tomorrow, and Kao, and the rest of those addictive little shops...

Sigh. Once again the release candidate is @#$@ing up my photos. I do apologize.

Happy 2009!

I've got a pounding hangover already from a wedding last night, but wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a good 2009. My RL 2008 mostly blew donkey balls (as they say), so I'm overjoyed to be off to a new start. The good parts of the year were definitely Second Life (and getting to know all of you), my child (who continues to amaze me with her sheer exuberance for First Life), and the wife (Dave), who cooked lots of meals to keep my daughter and myself healthy and happy.

In someone else's words (since mine are hiding behind the headache):
The merry year is born
Like the bright berry from the naked thorn.

Ruff Enough

Tonight I went for a wander. I stopped by Studio Sidhe and chatted with Faery for a while. Turns out the two of us are in the same field -- she studies early childhood education and tutors special education students. I study slightly older students. Much to my glee, she said something that I truly believe about education -- that nothing will be fixed until we learn through play, instead of at school. Faery was also wearing one of Schadenfreude's skins, and I kept chuckling to myself because it felt like I was talking to a slightly curvier, more Australian version of Allegory. Interesting how the skin sometimes makes the avatar...

I digress. At some point during the day Marni quietly slipped a number of neat things into my inventory. Wearing Royal Blue generally makes me feel immediately hip with all of its chunks of unavoidable color, as if I've been rolling in Vogue from the mid-60s. Today, Marni released a few new things -- a neck ruff with a color changing script, a bag, and shoes. I love the peep-toed shoe with the color-changing heel! As I mentioned earlier I never actually carry a purse IRL, so I never think to equip one in SL, but I admire people that do. This bag looks like it might even hold a third of my hefty inventory! The neck ruff is pure Elizabethan goodness.

Lazy Monday

I was in the mood to be laid back this morning, and found a few items from Cube Sugar in my frightening Christmas inventory folder. I'd hopped to Cube Sugar a few days ago to pick up the cute PJ set, and shopped a bit. The high-waisted skirt and shirt set are nicely done, from the quality of the plaid skirt prims to the hand-drawn lace on the shirt. The notice for new hair from BP* came as I was getting dressed, and I flew to BettiePage's shop asap. The hair is totally perfect, a scarf wrapped around a head of lovely glossy messiness in BP*'s usual addictive style. The socks are a lucky chair set from Shop Seu.

Hee, and a photo for the 'contents of my bag' meme. I'm afraid that I don't use a purse, guys =_=. I totally carry around a backpack, and it contains my laptop (in a protective fluffy case), a sheath for papers (monokuruma!), a journal, checkbook, pens, business cards, LCD adaptor, phone recharger, book I should be reviewing, dramamine, and one lone stick of lipstick. The bow, necklace and raisins are for le daughter. Not shown are feminine protection and a big wad of tissues for my daughter's nose.

***Mittens: **The Closet** KnitMitten PNK past group gift
***Socks: *SHOP SEU* Kushukushi kutsushita in grey, lucky chair gift
***Shoes: Tekilah Elytis's Phlat Ballet Flats Dotty/White

People at work (part ten)

Sasy Scarborough, Voshie Paine

This is an odd fact, but I'd forgotten that boys exist in SL aside from girls who put them on for yaoi purposes *cough*. Episode 10 of People at Work reminded me that boys exist! They arrived on the arms of their SOs, in pairs, and (at one point) in a flurry. I had to start singing "It's raining men, hallelujah!" Okay, I totally didn't. Be that as it may, I notice that the winter fashion for men seems to be dark grey sweaters. Hmm.

Aside from the men, I interrupted Voshie in the middle of changing, and she had the good grace to come and photograph anyway. People are grouped for no particular reason aside from what I thought looked nice. It was lovely to meet everyone in "person" after so much asynchronous or plurked conversation. I've provided SLURLs or URLs when I could find them; everyone else can be stalked via profile, hehe. Thanks again!
