I blog my friends

Momo dress, VV jewelry, LP boots ftw

Hi. I unabashedly and unashamedly blog my friends (note: I also blog stuff from people that I don't know yet ♥). That's because designers in Second Life are nice as well as creative, and I am proud to call you guys my friends. That being said, I'm wearing stuff from very nice people! My boots are from Lazy Places. Sakuradawn Lei is another mommy, and how she was able to create an entirely new build while simultaneously wrangling children is inconthievable to me.

My hair is not for sale, by Allegory Malaprop -- I'm wearing it as a shout-out to her because she was the victim of an act of blatant content theft. I saw her item and the thief's item, and it was just...too obvious to be debated. (I mean seriously, who the @#$@ would accidentally come up with a wall-mounted llama head?) BLOGGER GRRROWL! Don't make creative people quit Second Life, you thieves you! ...Taking a deep breath...

I don't know ~momo~ but I stalk her flickr account, and she's more adorable than Hello Kitty ice cream. When I saw this dress in her photos, I hopped right to her store at licolico mall. It comes in three different skirt and top combinations, with her usual completely awesome undies for those skirt-free days.

Last, but not least, is Violet Voltaire, the Shakespearean Puck of SL jewelers. Look how intelligent those necklaces are! They've got semiotic nods to Lewis Carroll, not just in the color (Alice blue) but in the design as well. What is the synechdochic device that best symbolizes the characters from Alice in Wonderland? Violet's managed to figure that out, adding her own unique macabre touch as well. (See more of the designs here.)

Everyone ready for the party tonight?!

Tentacle mess

Another Haunted Zuzu dress.

Mm. I'm swiftly becoming a fan of Haunted Zuzu, especially because of outfits like this. The monochromatic black and white tentacles put me in mind of hentai manga. Beware of my skirt! It might do things to you if you get too near! (And I might enjoy the show!)

The hair is new from Kyoot Army. I visited the Harajukubox store earlier today, and while I miss Silent, I enjoyed this build too. It's definitely nice to see the old things upstairs. (For favorite shops, I often browse them to remind me of what I already own. Yes, I'm senile and don't remember that I own something...fail.)

This leads me to a question: What's your favorite way to remember your inventory? Do tell. I have a "recent stuff" folder, but that gets frightening swiftly.

By the great grey-green greasy Limpopo river

Elephant corset tym
I just noticed that I am feeling up my intestine. Oops! Hehe.

Schadenfreude has a new basement, and the basement has a fortune telling device, and the device gives you this beautiful corset if you and your friend are compatible enough. The corset itself is lovely with just a hint of cheek, a Schadenfreude trademark. Are those stylized elephants printed in the fabric? Why yes.

The nicely constricted boning makes my avatar feel Victorian, which means I've got to dig out some Dickens later tonight. What should I read? I've always loved the over-the-top characterization and street scenery of Great Expectations... Hm, maybe that.

A fearful man, all in coarse grey, with a great iron on his leg. A man with no hat, and with broken shoes, and with an old rag tied round his head. A man who had been soaked in water, and smothered in mud, and lamed by stones, and cut by flints, and stung by nettles, and torn by briars; who limped, and shivered, and glared and growled; and whose teeth chattered in his head as he seized me by the chin. (Read more...)

Who says Dickens isn't riveting reading? :D

Oh for an A!

Cry skin 02

This is my usual lucky chair expression. Then, I hopped to katat0nik's lucky chair, it turned to ?, and I snagged this beautifully made lolita outfit, much to the chagrin of those around me. Apologies. But I have turned lucky chair cutthroat after six weeks of no Silvery Sylvan =_=.

Minajunk's new skins are variations on the "cry" design that she'd made for the CSR giveaway. I think what I like most about it is that it comes with tear-stained eyes and a gorgeous little prim tear -- extremely convincing, this skin. A reminder that Second Life is full of woe, sometimes; as much sorrow as RL only concentrated into a tiny little petrie dish.

The necklace is from TheCloset, and I am inflicting you with more J's boots, too. Kurotsubaki's bandage watch is so very macabre steampunk, right down to the palid, diseased whiteness of the wrappings. I do love Gothic Lolita, where Japanese fashion and goth fashion meet. The result is something hybrid, "Hello Gothy," cute as opposed to overtly sexualized. Thanks for making Loli designs, everyone, it totally makes my Second Life.

I'm off to battle for my child's medicaid! Wish me luck.

Wrath of the Avatars

wrath

This morning, I woke up to teach, and while I was hazily putting on makeup, I thought to myself: Must equip charisma items to add additional points to teaching rolls. This is because I'm playing waaay too much Facebook D&D. Seriously, it's becoming as much of a twitch-reaction as my damned Japanese dressup dolly.

Isn't the web interesting? At any given time on my computer I've got LiveJournal (my first timewaster), Facebook (my newest timewaster), online IM-based roleplaying games (this is what I'm writing my dissertation about), g-mail (the meat and bread of my existence), Second Life, and various kinds of fanfiction. Oh and uh...schoolwork, somewhere in there. My life is contained in a tiny box. Isn't it a little sad? People wonder how I can space out for hours on the computer, and this is why.

Aside from how utterly dorky I am, my SL avatar has equipped a Halloween gown of +10 elegance, ~silentsparrow's~ Wrath. These pictures show some of the options for the outfit, including a cape, two kinds of skirt, and a long shirt or a corset. Ahh, it's bloody gorgeous, and the horrible thing is that I'm going to take it off tomorrow because there's going to be ANOTHER ~silentsparrow~ Halloween release ... dramatic foreshadowing. Calico Ingmann Creations made hair that matches the Wrath outfit (not shown due to hat) -- it's a cascading side ponytail that perfectly accentuates the cape and collar of the gown.

The skin is Den Dou's camp chair item, GothNeko #1 in silver, and it was well worth the 90 minutes of inventory sorting. The eyes are from another of the Den Dou goth skins (I wrote about it earlier today), and they shine out of the skin in a glittery cat-like manner. I approve.

Burn, baby, burn

I fail. I got into this outfit, photographed...and then for the life of me couldn't remember where I picked up this neat skull staff.

Edit: Thanks, Stephi! It's a freebie from Carnival of Doom!

The staff is animated with a BURN! command. I quite liked the burn command. I stood around Kurotsubaki this morning with the boot-buying contingent randomly playing with it. "BURN!" I cried, and flame spouted out from the skull on my staff. Of course they all thought I was a griefer, but sometimes you've gotta live a little. Does anyone remember FUEGO! ? This animation was one of the first freebies I picked up as a n00b, and I still enjoy putting it on, especially at Caledon dances. Nothing like watching a huge primskirt erupt into flame!

This pretty, pretty frock comes from The Closet, and reminded me so much of carny wear that I had to put on my Ringmaster hair from katat0nik. I love the hand-drawn featherwork and the ruffles around the neck. It looks especially creepy with the goth skin from Den-Dou, and sadly, I might have a new skinmaker obsession to join my list of talented favorites. I sat for 90 minutes sorting inventory to get the silver version of this skin last night (not shown, maybe tomorrow), and got suckered into purchasing this one. The smoky lips and eyes are perfectly shaded, as well as the very faint tinge of color on the cheeks. I like it when goth skins look just a tiny bit healthy!

In other news, I am completely addicted to Facebook Tiny D&D.

Walking on mist

Swan Gems 01

Nebulosus Severine of Night-Ghast has created a set of jewelry for the Black Swan event. The jewelry is elf-like, glowing crystal gems set in bands of silver. You can wear them on your head in diadem form, on your ankle, wrist, fingers and neck... I quite like anklets in SL! I should really find more of them, they set off pretty shoes so nicely.

I wandered over to Sanctum Sanctorum to photograph, and found the sim much changed. Where there had been ruins, there are now trees, and not just any trees but default Linden sorts. It takes a true artist to make the default trees look both natural and creative, and I enjoyed the way Baron Grayson worked with simple things to make a stark and ethereal landscape. I can haz some of that talent nao? Kthx. On another note, I like how poses look when I'm hovering in mid-air. I figured this out while photographing for the Black Swan contest. Realism, bah.

kawaiiiii koneko

konekokani03

I am overjoyed to get my dirty paws on this glorious AUTUMNAL koneko dress from Draconic Kiss. It's in her lucky chair, cycling with the equally cute white sailor outfit.

I spent most of my morning cleaning due to the impending visit of an inlaw. Yes, my cleaning is all for the purpose of pretending to other people that we live in a clean house. I did things today like, oh, clean the microwave (we were growing fungal cultures) and coffeepot (we were growing alien lifeforms). Then, I mopped. Doesn't RL rock?! I like how in SL the most maintenance I ever have to do is sort inventory.

Oops, RL calls. Have great Sundays!
