Tiny my shiny shiny love

***YGD ScootBoy

The Japanese have cute completely pwned. A few months ago, hyasynth took me to the Tiny expo. It was set up in a grand space station where you trailed past an enormous ring of Tiny avatars as they hovered and beeped and cuted at you. I...okay, I walked away with seven. Luckily they're all priced incredibly reasonably at around the 200L range. My favorite is the one at the top of this post, Scoot Boy. He's got a color changing hud and comes in my favorite shade of orange!

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. The drawback of non-traditional tinies is that they can't fit tiny outfits well without tweaking, but when you get a complete package (like the maid, below), why bother accessorizing? The best of these avatars come with their own AO so that when you walk you hover (like the Lolita maid), or bounce (like the mushroom) or trot (like the doggy). What's more, this is only seven out of the enormous wealth of tinies out there.

You know you wanna.

Roadtrips are better with NPR podcasts

I'm back in my messy, small and comfortable apartment that feels as good as a pair of worn jeans. I've been in grand and beautiful places these past eight days! I've seen storms chase each other across the water of a New York lake, and watched tall pines sway under the gusts of summer wind -- but none of it feels as good as my chair, the pillow I put my laptop on, and the taste of my husband's iced tea.

We listened to podcasts of NPR's Living on Earth as we drove 1000 mile up the coast and 1000 miles back, and I stared at the weather looking for evidence of global climate change. It's there in Georgia's drought, in the deluge in New York.

We also listened to more NPR news of the world's changing oil prices, and then bought fifty dollars worth of gas every few hundred miles. It's wild to listen to the radio when you drive -- there's nothing to protect you from seeing the world changing all around you. Hybrid cars, "green" malls (in Syracuse, no less!), drying riverbeds.

But still, America is a lovely country, and the cities are truly fewer and farther between than you imagine when you fly. The vastness of this land makes it all green in long pockets. Well, green and dotted with cows...

Oh -- fashion. I'm wearing new jewelry today! New releases from Bliensen and Maitai, and from Studio Sidhe. What's the connection between my outfit and the environment? Virtual clothing needs no polluting machinery to produce. In the future when we all sit at home and telecommute on Second Life because of the astronomical price of gas, we'll understand the true power of our roles as fashion designers and writers for this venue...:D

Anyway. I'm home!

White as snow, dark as ink

Calico made some adorable hair for the Dolls in the Attic fashion show. This is one of my favorites, Sylvia. The rolled-up bangs remind me of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman -- in a very good way. Also reminds me of Disney's interpretation of fairy tale princesses, a matter upon which I've had much chance to meditate of late. My daughter is still stuck on the whole princess thing, but with a twist.

"Mom. I want to grow up to be a Princess Barbie Pirate."

"Well. As long as you also want to be a pirate, I...guess I'm okay with that."

The shoes are the prim little ankle boots from First Flower, found at Shoe Fair! The dress is a new release from Schadenfreude. In this dress, I feel like Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Yeah, I might've been stuck in a rainy cabin with the child...

Pretty shoes

This is the third post about my loot from the shoe fair/Dolls in the Attic show! Draconic's dress is just bloody adorable, and I'm only wearing half the pieces because I'm in kani form. It's also got striped armwarmers and an undershirt and cuuute lacings on the capris... The prim skirt, however, is an opulent piece of work that would feminize the most androgenous of avatars...

These shoes are the poetically beautiful monarch emitters by Lazy Places, and I'm in looove. I walk and I'm in a Wordsworthian cloud of orange -- reminds me of running through the fields outside of this lake-side cabin. Okay, I grudgingly admit that sometimes, RL pwns SL, but it's rare.

Child still sick so we can't do all the lake stuff we wanna, like swim or bike... And I have to share internet on the one plug-in land line. Ugh. Home time yet?

Coppery colors in the attic

More pretties from the Dolls in the Attic fashion show and shoe fair. Oh, the coppery colors! Oh the fabric, the carefully shaped prims! One day while chatting with Fallingwater, I tried to beg for more colors of the ruffle boots. "Bah," she said, "You should see what I'm working on now." She sent me a photo of the Belle slingbacks, and I've been excited about them ever since.

The dress is the lolita variation on the Sylvan Suit. I like zooming waaaay in on hyasynth's fabric because it has all kinds of depth to it, and the prim skirts are getting downright opulent on the lolita dresses.

Hm, we're still on vacation up here at the lake, and I've got to run because the child is reaching for the antiques. Miss you guys!

We interrupt this vacation...

So yeah, I'm in the middle of NOWHERE New York, and by that I mean so far upstate I can smell the finer air of Canada. I can't even get my cellphone to work out here! I missed the Dolls in the Attic fashion show because I was on the road, but today I broke and demanded internets time for shoe fair.

How could I possibly miss shoe fair? In fifteen minutes I spent my savings on several pairs of shoes and boots. This is one of my favorites, a texture-changing mary jane dolly by miss katat0nik. I should be grateful that I have to engage in lake sports tomorrow, or I'd be hemorrhaging Lindens like the Niagra Falls spouts water (and I'm not all that far from the falls up here).

The countryside, dotted with Victorian-style homes, reminds me of something out of Nathaniel Hawthorne. I keep expecting to see ghosts over my shoulder, tapping it and coughing out something like, Hey, can I borrow tree-fiddy?

This outfit is in honor of all the stuff I missed because of the intrusion of that mean old Real Life: Schadenfreude's Wolsey suit in pumpkin that debuted at the fashion show (with so many options I'm not even gonna try to do them justice AND yes, a bugle), and katat0nik's Bubbly Mary Janes from shoe fair.
