Simply awesome post, if I do say so myself

There are so many new things to talk about in this post that it's not even funny! Figures that it's Saturday and my child is home and I've got to try to write about this around entertaining her. Ah well, RL before SL, right? First, katat0nik has lovely new dresses and boots at her store in Axis Mundi. There was a launch party for the boot store and art walk last night, and the second I saw katat0nik in her new dress I hopped over to get it immediately. I picked up new boots while I was there -- wow, the shape and design! I might need a fat pack! There are two other colors of the Carousel frock, but obviously I had to wear the orangey one.

More new things. Violet Voltaire has a new shop in Haven Shire! I went while SL was completely borked yesterday and stared around with deep disappointment because I couldn't purchase anything. I returned to snag the lovely new hair ribbons, cheekily named "Girl Germs." They do look like the ultimate girl accessory, don't they? I'm forever wearing Violet's Gank set on my boy av, but he probably won't be able to sport the tiny hair bow and maintain his masculine dignity. (Bah. Who needs that anyway?)

Last, but not least by a long shot, the elusive Jackal Ennui has reappeared with two new releases -- a pair of shoes named Laudanum, and a necklace and earring set named Medea. Laudamun comes in three colors and has the classic shape that we've come to expect from Miss Jackal, a fusion of usefulness (they're patterned after winklepickers!), and careful craftsmanship that means they'll be glued to my feet for days to come. Imagine, comfy shoes for my avatar.

The Medea necklace comes from the spare geometry of Greek mythos (*cough* watch as I make shit up), and makes my avatar feel adorned like a proud and scheming sorceress.

*happy sigh* -- What a good clothing day. I feel like I've accomplished something!

LOLach

I saw that there was new stuff at Armidi and had to hop over to check it out. As always, lovely details and nicely afurdable! Nobunny should pass this up, especially us humanoid types!

*cough* -- Sorry, pun in my throat. I think it's out now. My boots are extra special, and the outfit was chosen to complement them! They're Lazy Places' remade Trailmix shoes, and they'll be released tomorrow (or as soon as Sakuradawnlei can get the vendors out, *grin*). Yes -- they make tracks so that everyone can go hunting wabbits!

***Shoes: Lazy Places Trailmix - redux! (Will be released shortly, this is a teasing little preview)

Do not taunt happy stump

I went out for boots and returned with a tree stump. See, during a recent tussle with my inventory, I found the Schadenfreude Revenant Suit. The sepia-toned, distressed fabric made brown boots imperative, and I realized in short order that my poor boy av had no shoes at all!

I turned to Lawless for help, and he pointed me to Zero Number, which has his favorite boots in the whole fake world. It's also in Koenji, where I can sadly impulse buy from one side of the sim to the other. In fact, I did!

Look at the stump! It's flowery, it's fairy-esque, it's stumplicious. It has fifteen poses, and can seat two. I didn't name it Happy Stump, it's creator did, and aptly so. ...I mean, it has little mushrooms, which totally bring out my inner Hobbit.

Speaking of the Hobbit, did you hear that it's gonna be made by Peter Jackson's production company, directed by Del Toro?! SO EXCITED! Article about it here! ...I'm a complete LOTR dork.

CHERRY pickin' with Creamy

Featuring the effervescent Creamy Cooljoke!

I'm beginning to sense a common Creamy-Ach clothing aesthetic. When we get together and take pictures, we have (1) big hair (2) babydoll dresses and (3) cute tights. (Well fine, this is only the second time we've done this, but the similarities to our last random act of photography are quite eerie.)

I saw the cute tights on Miu's post to SL Free*Style this morning and had to have them. I mean -- free python tights?! Need! Sadly, I fail at reading Japanese and pinged Creamy. "Pardon me, where can I find these?"

They were in a shop called Saya in the sim CHERRY (I've got a different Saya slurl below, but do check out CHERRY too). It is another cheerfully sprawling Japanese sim full of cheap, free and adorable items. I passed on the head-lion, but couldn't resist the fluffiness of this enormous free white afro. As I mentioned to someone, I'd best stay away from oversized ears, I'm a dead ringer for a queue-tip.

The dresses at Saya remind me a lot of the look of Heart-Cupcakes or Big Booty Big Money, bright and flirty and heavy on the leg. Nothin' wrong with a little leg! (And I do mean little, Creamy had to shorten herself to stand next to me, heh.)

Up early with allergies

Sakuradawn Lei of Lazy Places in a group gift from AVZ, outfit by Paradisis, and boots from TheAbyss.

I went wandering Koenji again yesterday. It's one of my favorite places for shopping because it feels like a real Japanese shopping district. While I was there, two things happened. First, Fally released her new lovely sandal, and second, I ran into a new pal.

The (Shiny Things) Supernova sandals are aptly named, pattered with a sun exploding across the top of one's foot. I had to put on my favorite color, the orange-red Sunset, and felt it went perfectly with Lavish Style's Rimma outfit.

All outfit details aside, the second I saw Sakuradawn Lei, my mouth fell open. She was trotting the streets of Koenji looking like a futuristic BDSM toy. I love the creativity of her ensemble, and was mesmerized by that hair! It floated around her as if alive, and put me in mind of the images of Geiger or hentai manga. Amazing to be able to bring such an extreme vision to life... What's even more amazing is meeting a new acquaintance at random on the streets of a distant sim. What're the chances of that? Sakuradawn creates accessories for furries, and I'll be wearing many of her boots in upcoming furry posts.

I've managed to make it through a blog post without talking about existential matters OR snot. Proud of me? :D

Buddha never has inventory issues

Schadenfreude Hot Pink Striped Pants

This morning, I woke up to find that eight folders worth of leggings were stuck (absolutely unequivocally stuck) at the top level of my inventory folder next to "inventory" and "library". I'd put these items into a "leggings" folder (now gone!) because today's post theme is -- leggings! My criteria for a legging was: (1) On the underpants layer, (2) Meant to be either inner or outer wear, (3) Footless, and (4) Fabric more interesting than glitch pants. Here are a few that I found in my inventory last night...

Kyoot Army Aya Capri Tights - group gift at Christmas

Speaking of inventory, I get completely OCD twitchy when my folders are out of place. Sure, I have messy inventory like everyone else, but my 23K worth of items are all crammed into various subdirectories so that I can pretend I have a semblance of order. As I was saying to Serenity last night (she's interviewing me for GLAM), Matrix-esque program glitches are an indication that we're living in a program, and unsettling moments such as that disturb my carefully constructed Second Life "reality." Folders! Out of place! That means I live in an imaginary world where anything is possible!

*Petit Ange* *an* knit_tights in deep pink

I cleared cache to no avail, and then I put in a help desk plea. Isn't it strange how much we rely upon other people to help us live our Second Life? It's almost like a first life in this regard. I mean, I can't fix pipes, although I'd love to learn how. I guess the Buddhist philosophy is most true when you look at life as an interconnected network. Buddha says that we're all one consciousness. At the end of it all, we're one being, split off into an enormous number of parts for a limited amount of time. Attaining unity with our original self is our goal. (Why do I know this? My mama's Thai, I'm Buddhist by birth, although I'm currently hanging out with Unitarians.)

Sn@tch Cry Baby Girl Group Freebie, diffused cloud leggings

Religious or not, Second Life makes it easy to see how we're interconnected. One programmer's glitch sends ripples through our entire world, and everything is different because of it. Ideas, too -- someone creates a lovely hair and people buy it, make paons to it, send it up... Interacting with people is like this too. If I didn't have people I could sleepily blather at in the morning in SL, I'm not sure I'd be able to find a point to it. SL extends the network of my life and enables me to connect, regain some of my original one-ness with the Buddha (or whatever you wanna call it).

/Fuel / Star mania leggings

OH RIGHT. THIS IS A FASHION BLOG. I'm wearing a number of leggings. I like leggings because they fit under boots, although I'm trying my best in this post to not hide them under my usual slew of belts, boots, and jacket layers. I especially like leggings when designers do fun things with them, like embroider them with stars, or use brocaded fabric.

How can I possibly sum up a post that went from inventory issues to existential unity to leggings? I'm not sure. Perhaps the final lesson is that when one procrastinates grading, it is still there.

Ever have that not-so-clear-headed feeling?

Y halo thar. Did you just come from the Kyoot Army 100L sale too? I'm glad I went, because I wasn't sure what to wear with this glorious new release from Elegance Hats. Turns out what I needed was tattered lace and Blue Blood's runny makeup! I love how a good hat can enhance a face, setting off interesting skin and sleek hair just like a picture frame.

(Complete aside. My three year old daughter "helped" cut my fingernails last night, and the result is that half are long and half are short. This makes typing very interesting.)

...Let's see, what else is going on in my brain? Freebie hunts. Do you know how much trouble I get into on freebie hunts?! These boots are an impulse "hunt" from Fuel. I like how they are boots, and yet legwarmers. Perfect for keeping your legs warm while you prance around a stripper pole!

What the heck am I blathering at you today? I think the pollen has finally taken over my brain so that it's one large yellow-green congealed snot mass. On that decidedly unglamorous note, I leave you to our sweet virtual world where nobody has to breathe, let alone breathe pollen. Go go bodies without organs.

Carolingians beware

Free lucky chair set from ~silentsparrow~

Interesting things abound in this Second Life place. The Merovingi Fashion Awards are here, and that means that you have the chance to hop over to the sim and vote for your favorite designer.

MEROVINGI? You mean it's being held by the Merovingians, the lost bloodline of Christ, the Sangroi, the keepers of the grail and the child of Mary Magdalen? I'm not blathering here, it's all in Holy blood, holy grail, the book that my husband and I read out loud together while driving cross country a few years ago, with me pregnant as @#$@!.

*cough* Anyway, I'm sure that the awards have nothing to do with reinstating the bloodline of Christ into the power-behind-the-throne secret societies that purportedly control the world, and anyone who takes my blog seriously should read the bit about how I'm a part-time furry.

On to the clothing bit! I'm wearing something wonderful and free from the ~silentsparrow~ lucky chair, and I continue to contend that my male avatar looks spiffy in female hair.

***Hair: Gritty Kitty: TSO - liquorice
***Necklace: Japancakes +J+ Fashionista Necklace
***Outfit: ~silentsparrow~ sugarplum suite -- eight pieces, including two collars, gloves, a tutu, pants, bloomers, stockings, a corset, a jacket and adorable little bow cuffs. It can all be worn by women, and half of it by men! Okay, it can also be worn by men who like wearing women's clothing.

***Shoes: (Shiny Things) Murphys

Boots made for fishin'

Fishing rod: Seven's Selections 7Seas Pro Fishing Rod
(A vendor can be found at the silent sparrow fishing docks)

Everyone that I know has been fishing lately. Hethr Engle even made a special outfit just for the sport! It was very practical, with a hat to protect her avatar from the sun (skins are expensive! Shouldn't burn them!), and cargo shorts to stow her bait. I went fishing early this morning on the new dock that Jessica Ornitz built at ~silent sparrow~, mostly for the sake of, um, wearing new boots.

Tree of Second Life TOSL *Cobbler* Boots in Jawbreaker

The theme of today's post is "fishing in white/pastel boots." Yes, I understand that I'm a nutcase. I think pastel boots are excellent for fishing because the fish will see cute bright things above the water and naturally want to investigate. The pink Oi boots are especially good for fishing (I'm blogging the RFL boots a tad late :D ) because they're vivid! ...Do you sense that I know nothing about fishing? Luckily, Second Life can fish for me!

=*UnToneQuilt*= patchwork bootee

I'm also wearing a gorgeous dress, a new release from ~silent sparrow~ that hyasynth will be writing more about later today. It's so gorgeous that I'll be wearing nothing else from now on. The blog's going to get a little boring...

Clockwork Cats: Widower Boots - Theater Red

Thanks to the lovely members of the Caledon chat for helping me find boots. Yes, Mr. Despres, boy-Ach will appear in boots eventually ;). In the mean time, my frock, boots and I are going to get to SECOND LEVEL at fishing! Did I mention that this reminds me a whole lot of EverQuest? I've got a secret quest to collect enough fish to use every Tolkien name from Fellowship of the Rings.

Hair hunting

I don't know about you, but when I'm grading papers I like to hop into Second Life as a drow and go hunting. In my case, hunting means that I put on a nice frock and visit Kin hair. Interestingly enough, when I got to Kin, Jenilicious and Misty had had exactly the same idea! We had a small meeting of drow minds that went something like this.

"Hey -- more drow!"

"Yeah. Gotta love Kin hair."

"I need it all!"

*cough* -- you know, the usual dangerous stuff that drow talk about when they go on small hunting expeditions.

The outfit, in this case, is from Lavish Style. This is the first of their outfits that I own, and I'm impressed by the carefully designed quality of their prims as well as the hand-crafted fabric. In fact, I think another little hunting expedition is in order.

I realized when I ran into Misty and Jenilicious that for a drow, I sure do wear a lot of clothing. I've clearly got to work on this.

Jenilicious DeCuir, myself, and Misty Staheli plot a small takeover of Kin hair.
