Schadenfreude is a genuinely awesome shop, but be careful where you click, or you could end up lying on their displays. Not kidding, they've filled that place up with clicky traps that'll have you laughing ruefully. As I accidentally draped myself across their central display, I noticed the most awesome tuxedo ever. It comes in a range of colors, including traditional black and untraditional pink, and has so many options you won't believe it's only 350L. I wanted the green one. I might go back for more. There are pants that tuck into boots, pants that don't, and a sexy little skirt that my avatar said wasn't proper for a Victorian lady.
Along with that, I'm wearing /artilleri/'s one boy hair, "creeper" (make more of those, Miss Marat!). The manly cut went really well with the top hat that was included in the tux outfit, and makes a sleek addition to my 3000000 little black hairdos. Obsessed? Me?
***Suit: Schadenfreude Emerald Tuxedo Corset, including hat, jacket, pants, gloves, bowtie, all kinds of stuff! -- no really, 20 different pieces, for 350L. Not kidding, so many options it's amazing. La Reina Boardwalk, La Reina (180, 170, 27)

This morning I spotted a great fluffy white high-collared shirt on SL Mode, and had to go nose around the shop. Heart Cupcakes also had a fluffy light pink "Princess Dress", and I realized that I was in the mood for some delicately textured monochrome. I feel like Grace Kelly, especially with the black and white skin from La Sylphide. Isn't it gorgeous, especially for being FREE?

I dressed up in 1940s gangster moll garb (for no good reason) and went to Koenji, and its neighboring sim, Shimokitazawa.
It was modernist urban decay interspersed by pockets of extreme cute, just like the Japanese. Two fabulous stores on the sim were Crazy Rock Style (the name is self-explanatory), and UnTone Quilt, which boasts a deathly cute interior and exactly two adorable coverall outfits.
Have Gun Will Travel
reads the card of a man.
A knight without armor
in a savage land.
His fast gun for hire
hears the calling wind.
A soldier of fortune
is the man called Paladin.
Where do you roam?
Far, far from home.
Don't ask me; it was on my mind.

Today I had a yen to wander away from my nouveau riche suburb of Caledon Wellsian and head out to view the old money down in the big city. I was glad I went to see it before the holiday decor was taken down; Caledon VictoriaCity was done up in grand style for Christmas. The hub was adorned with anthuriums, the trees were glorious in their winter coat of ice, and the shops were bedecked with wooden nutcrackers.
I visit VictoriaCity far too seldom (because, in part, of the lag :p), but whenever I visit, I feel steeped in Victoriana. It makes me long for the days of Holmes and Watson, naughty princes and their mistresses, Jack the Ripper, little maidens selling violets, and the scent of coal and horse dung. Or, you know, to read about it.
Not only is Silver Rose's flagship store here, but also Mako Magellan's (for gentlemen of leisure), a branch of Prim and Proper, Vintage Clothing Reproductions, Laurel Crown, and Lassitude and Ennui (to name a few), all right on the hub. The Whitehorn Memorial Library is an amazing sight, and often hosts Victorian-themed exhibits as well as a vast array of digital texts from the Victorian era.
I had to wear my Edwardian crossdresser's finest, of course, which is why I was so gleeful that ~silentsparrow~ released the brand new koumori suit today (blogged over here). The leather button casings shaped like bats made me chortle with delight, as did the buckled detail on the jacket's back. I think I'll snitch it from my avatar and wear it tomorrow.

Happy New Year! I don't know about you guys, but my avatar's probably going to party more than I am tonight (ah, being a toddler mom and staying in).
Actually, this observation feeds into something I've long pondered. I think Second Life helps us 30, 40, 50-somethings extend the irresponsible fun of our 20s with few real life consequences. Is Second Life our vicarious 20s, forever?! Is that why avatars look perennially 24?
The avatar insisted on wearing red tonight, so she chose Ingenue's Ginger frock, *TRUTH* Sunday hair in black topped by the Elegance Hats petal hat, and gloves snitched from ~silentsparrow's~ blutengel dress. (And of course my favorite Violet Voltaire necklace.)
For those of you that joined Ladies who Adventure, thank you. If you feel like IMing me with neat new places to explore, please do! The group can most definitely be used for travel tips. I'll be planning something new for us to do after the first.
